Two years ago, I had the privilege of working with a great actress in California by the name of Kelsey Miles. She was exuberant, crass, and best of all…honest. I told her I wanted to make an “experimental” film about capturing a sense of emotion and she was more than up to the challenge.
Her only question though was how was I going to pull this off and I replied with, “I have no idea.”
On a cool summer night in Hollywood, California, I took my 5D Mark III, a sound recorder, and a light with me to film my first experimental film.
After discussing with her that I wanted this to be narration over a series of images of her getting ready to leave for a meeting of sorts, we decided we should try to convey a sense of melancholy.
Two hours later, I rushed home and began editing and color correcting her wonderful performance.
This is the end result.
